ARC Access
Animal Resource Center Security Clearance Policy and Procedure
This policy is for the protection and safety of personnel, animals, and research.
All rules and regulations are strictly enforced by ARC staff and UCSB Campus Police to ensure ARC security
and research will not be compromised.
All personnel wishing to obtain a Security Access Badge to the UCSB Animal Resource Center must be included on an active,
currently approved UCSB IACUC protocol and must have completed the basic training requirements.
To obtain an access badge please complete the following:

Sign up for a facility tour with the Principal Animal Technician and obtain application.

Fill out the Security Access Application and have your supervisor or PI sign it.

Return the Security Access Application with a RECHARGE NUMBER in person to the ARC Associate Director, Bio II, rm 6181.

Go to the Security Office, Building 300 room 105, Monday through Thursday 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.

Bring a current Drivers License or Passport. You will sign your name and have your picture taken. This takes about 3 minutes.

Your badge must be visible at all times while you are in the ARC facilities.

Undergraduates are allowed access only between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

If your badge is lost or stolen, you must report it within 24 hours to either the Campus Police or ARC staff.

The cost to replace a badge ($15.00) will be billed to the PI’s lab.

Notify the Associate Director when access is no longer required.
**Please note: It is imperative that secure access to the ARC is maintained.
Any individual who loans, gives their ID badge to another individual,
or lets someone in without access will have their access privileges revoked.
