ARC Mission Statement
We care deeply for and about animals. We recognize the human-animal
bond and treat all animals with honor, respect and compassion.
It is our responsibility to provide for the well-being of the
animals, both physically and psychologically because the animals
deserve it and research requires it.
We believe the pursuit of knowledge has value for ourselves as
individuals and as the mission of the University of California.
Further, we acknowledge the contribution made by animals and the
continuing necessity of animal participation in the pursuit of
knowledge.
We promote the best possible working environment by fostering
a team spirit that encourages good communication, personal integrity
and individual responsibility.
We represent an exemplary Animal Care and Use Program and an unparalleled
resource for UCSB. We provide leadership to the community at large
and to our professional peers because of our integrity, competence,
continual striving for improvement and standards of excellence.
