Visiting Technology Coordinator
ESLARP- University of Illinois 02/ 2002- present
Coordinate Network Systems in NTAC (Neighborhood Technical
Assistance) and Digital
ESL (East Saint Louis), a project funded by the University
of Illinois designed to extend computer and technology resources
throughout East St. Louis and surrounding area, a predominantly
African-American community. Provide technical support troubleshooting,
training, server administration and web design.
Work in direct collaboration with the University of Illinois’s
School of Library and Information Science and Prairienet
Community Networking to provide technology assistance (troubleshooting),
workshops and technical training. Coordinate various Digital
ESL collaborative projects including web development, computer
training, development of wireless network, preparing candidates
to take A+ certificate exam, technical meeting and work
with volunteers funded by AmeriCorps program.
Provide technical assistance for the Digital ESL Partners
(about 30 organizations each possessing an average of 20
computers), and serve as a contact liaison between these
partners and University of Illinois faculty and researchers
in the area of technology, business consulting, library
and questions related to community endeavors.
