The
Center has benefited tremendously from the talents, efforts
and commitments of the staff members. In 2003-04 the Center
welcomed our talented new publications manager Chryss Yost.
With her accomplishments in website design, editing and publications
experience, Ms. Yost built significantly upon the important
Center publications work of her talented predecessors Irene
Jones and Ruth Wilner. For another academic year, the Center’s
mission was aided immeasurably by the skills and reliability
of our dedicated business manager, Mahsheed Ayoub.
This academic year the Center’s dedicated team was completed
with addition of Dr. Christopher McAuley, associate professor
of Black Studies. In his short tenure as Associate Director,
Dr. McAuley has made many important contributions to daily
operations and academic integrity of the Center. Dr. McAuley's
areas of research in African Politics, world systems theory,
Black intellectual history, Caribbean and Latin American political
economy and economic history of the Americas garnered him
awards from the Ford Foundation and Center for African-American
and African Studies (CAAS), University of Michigan Research
Fellowship in Ghana. His recently published book is entitled
(The Mind of Oliver Cox). Dr. McAuley is very active
at conferences and other professional activities in his field.
Dr. McAuley is researching a significant historical project
on literary and political affinities existing between African
American philosopher-scholar-activist, W.E.B. Du Bois and
German philosopher Max Weber.
