Permanent Director's Search It is my opinion, as well as that of the Advisory Board, that a search for a senior African-American scholar of national repute, with a successful grant-writing record, should be undertaken at some point to fill the position of Director of the Center for Black Studies. The ideal model would be to have an open search in terms of discipline. However, we do understand the logistics of FTE allocation and the fact that a search probably will not happen within the next year or so. I have talked to Department Chairs and Deans to try to get them to assist in the process. In the interim, I have invested great effort and energy into the Center, and I am willing to continue to serve as director.
