The Center also publishes a variety of one-time reports that coincide with the release of research findings. In addition, the Center assists in the production of Ventana Abierta, a Spanish language journal devoted to Chicano, Latino and Mexicano literature and edited by Professors Luis Leal (Journal Director) and Victor Fuentes (Journal Associate Director).

The famous novelist Marinano Azuela, author of the popular LOS DE ABAJO (THE UNDERDOGS), is here studied for the first time as a short story writer. This collection of 23 Cuentos contains also the introduction "Mariano Azuela, Cuentista" by ehe editor, and Biblography of Azuela's short stories

The Editors of Crossing Lines, a new critical anthology which features 8 UCSB graduate student writers, is a collection of essays on issues of race in the contemporary U.S. and includes work from History, English, Art History, Sociology, Ethnic Studies and Education.

"Mitos y Leyendas de Mexico, Myths and Legends of Mexico" incorporates Mexico's stories from the beginning of time to early 20th century. A visually attractive and large publication, this bilingual work is a collection of Cultural stories and history. The proceeds for the sale of the book will help fund the Gladys Leal Memorial Scholarship at UCSB.
