Leigh Anne joined the SRI team in January of 2023. She received her PhD in Earth Sciences with an emphasis in paleontology from UCSB. Her research interests include the early evolution of eukaryotes and their diversity trends through time, as well as the innovations of biomineralization and predation in single-celled eukaryotes. Her research has been funded by the Simons and Moore foundations, the National Science Foundation, the Palaeontological Association and the NASA Astrobiology Institute.
